Site of a plane crash in which two men were killed. The victims were identified in the Evening Outlook as: Lt. Arthur Donovan Joseph Farrell (32), US Navy test pilot, and his flying mechanic, W.C. Kerr of San Diego. The crash site was "a half mile east of the Will Rogers Memorial field, just off Sunset Blvd.," near the Riviera Country Club. An Outlook article noted that the pilot was, "flying in a southerly direction when his plane crashed into the hill, burst into flames and skidded down the hillside almost onto Sunset Blvd." The two-seat fighting plane was headed to the naval inspector's office at Douglas Aircraft and had taken off from San Diego naval base that morning.
