Employees of the Bay Cities Transit Company stand by a sign, a promotion for the Dividend Store, posted on the side of a parked bus. Another sign on the side of the bus indicates that it ran along Santa Monica Boulevard. Bay Cities Transit was a privately owned company that serviced Santa Monica along with the city-owned Santa Monica Municipal Bus Lines.

A uniformed waitress serves two unidentified men seated on stools at the counter of the Criterion Drug Company, located at 1301 Third Street. The company logo can be seen on the wall to the left of the counter, "C. D. Co." Several advertisements above the counter list such products as Coca Cola, Adohr Ice Cream (priced at 20, 35, and 65 cents) , Squibb shaving cream and dental cream. There is a marketing slogan, possibly for Coca Cola, that reads, "A taste of Tropic Sunshine." There is a display case and counter for perfumes and other items.
