Description Crowd on a Santa Monica beach on Admission Day. (The day California was admitted to the union). The photographer's notes say "Crowds on beach at the foot of Wilshire Boulevard in Danta Monica at 3 p.m. today (Admission Day) when temperature had risen to 90 degrees after a foggy morning and only 72 degrees at 12 o'clock noon. Water temperature during afternoon - 70 degrees. Estimated (by lifeguards) beach crowd from Venice to Malibu (including Ocean Park, Santa Monica and State Beach) 275,000."
