Description Outside of the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium during the 38th Academy Awards. Bob Hope hosted the show that celebrated the best films of 1965. It was the first Academy Awards to be broadcasted live in color. The two most nominated films were "Dr. Zhivago" and "The Sound of Music." "The Sound of Music" won best picture; Julie Christie was best actress; Lee Marvin nabbed best actor; Shelley Winters won best supporting actress; and Martin Balsam got best supporting actor.
