Title Victory Corsage Girls with Sheriff Biscailuz, 1942
Date 1942/07/16
Description A group of women in aprons and hats that read "Retail Volunteer" surround Sheriff Biscailuz, encouraging him to purchase victory corsages. The corresponding Evening Outlook newspaper clipping states: "Victory corsage girls will be one of the attractions tomorrow when Santa Monica Elks Lodge 906, will take over operation of the Victory House for the day. A quartet of the charmers is seen here as they practice for tomorrow's event by "closing in" on Sheriff Eugene Biscailuz, and sell him three more "Victory Corsages" than he had intended to buy. Sheriff Biscailuz will be one of the masters of ceremonies in the rally tomorrow. The bouquet vendors, left to right, are Eleanor Gibbs, Vera Sher, Jean Kerns and Charlaine Hedrick."
